The series is complete: PLATH GmbH & Co. KG has handed over all 12 mobile, protected COMINT systems (MoGeFA) to the customer on schedule. MoGeFA is a series of modern reconnaissance systems of the Bundeswehr; they are mounted on mobile all-terrain, armoured, multipurpose platforms of the Yak type and can thus be deployed on a mobile basis. In 2016, the authority of the German Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) awarded the contract for a total of 12 vehicles to PLATH as general contractor through the military organisational division Cyber and Information Space (CIR). The vehicles of the last batch of this series have now been handed over to the BAAINBw as planned.

The business division PLATH S&I as part of PLATH GmbH & Co. KG was mainly responsible for coordinating the entire project and the suppliers. These include major industry players such as Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH or ELETTRONICA GmbH as well as INNOSYSTEC GmbH and PROCITEC GmbH, as independent companies within the PLATH Group. The transport vehicles of the Yak type provided by the Bundeswehr were each equipped with a fully integrated COMINT system, including all the necessary hardware and software systems by the participating companies under the management of PLATH S&I. PLATH S&I took over the integration of all components into a powerful overall system.

The mobile protected COMINT systems make an important reconnaissance contribution to the situational picture and directly support operational command in the field. With MoGeFA, the Bundeswehr now has a highly mobile and powerful system with all the necessary capabilities for COMINT.

‘At the time it was awarded, MoGeFA was the Bundeswehr’s largest project ever awarded to a medium-sized company,’ emphasises Dr Michaelsen, CEO of PLATH GmbH & Co. KG. ‘It was also the first Bundeswehr project in which a specialised company from the reconnaissance industry, PLATH, assumed the general contractor role for the entire platform. We are proud to have now completed this important major project within the agreed time frame and budget, thus assisting the Bundeswehr in fulfilling its security mission.’

ICAS 14 has been released and offers a variety of useful features that further optimise the software. Among other things, the new release improves the interoperability of ICAS, reporting and user-friendliness.

Deeper integration of ICAS into existing IT environments
ICAS 14 now offers two new interfaces in REST API format, allowing external systems to access ICAS. With the REST API SAL (Signal Activity List), queries can be made and their results transmitted – for instance, in the form of audio recordings or decoded texts. A list of tasks, including status and details, is made available via the REST API tasking interface. It can also be used to start and stop tasks. This improved interoperability within ICAS allows even better integration into existing systems.

Reporting – improving transparency and strengthening cooperation
Reports are now managed centrally in ICAS 14 and can be easily shared between users. Changes to reports can also be followed. made are traceable. For even more transparency, information about activities (e.g. creator and export profile of the report) is displayed in the reporting overview. Thanks to customised templates and database fields, as well as the automatic filling of selected fields, reports can now be created much faster than before. In addition, their creation is much easier to integrate into customer-specific workflows and organisational requirements.

Optimised user-friendliness
The user-friendliness of ICAS has also been optimised with this new release. For a better overview, the layout of the SAL filter criteria has been standardised and entries in context menus have been re-sorted and grouped allowing functions to be found and executed more quickly.

In addition, scrolling and zooming in the spectrum have been made more intuitive. The user can now also zoom in and out on the time, frequency and dB axes using the mouse. This simplifies manual work in the spectrum and data can also be found more quickly.

For faster processing of signal tables, entries can now be called up consecutively via key combinations. Among other benefits, the user can recognise more quickly whether an audio recording contains speech and whether further analysis makes sense.

The PLATH Corporation is rigorously pursuing further growth and strengthening the future orientation of the corporate group through a strategic reorganisation. To this end, two business units have been spun off as independent companies. The Signal Products business unit has become PLATH Signal Products GmbH & Co. KG. The former business units Systems & Integration and Radio Reconnaissance Software are now operating as PLATH GmbH & Co. KG on the market. Both companies became independent on 1 April 2021 and are headquartered in Hamburg. This step has given them maximum flexibility to develop additional customers and business areas in the field of data-driven crisis prevention.

PLATH Signal Products GmbH & Co. KG is to concentrate on expanding its product business. It now offers its high-quality and innovative hardware – for example, antennas and radio direction finders and receivers – as individual products to customers in the B2B sector, such as to system integrators. In this way, further sales potential can be tapped beyond the corporate group. Up until now, these products have primarily been used for PLATH Group projects.

PLATH GmbH & Co. KG is to focus on the expansion of the system business as a system integrator. The aim is to acquire and implement corresponding orders in the area of data-driven crisis prevention and to therefore grow further. Due to many years’ experience in system integration, PLATH GmbH & Co. KG has taken on the role of general contractor and central contact in complex procurement projects for its customers.

In the new organisation, the parent company PLATH Corporation GmbH (formerly PLATH GmbH) will take on the typical tasks of a holding company and will offer shared services for all companies within the PLATH Group.
